today is now - uno

so, I'm going to try and start a new segment on GH every week where I post a nice little playlist of songs that i think are deserving of your attention. We'll see how it goes. Maybe (hopefully) every miercoles. This week includes some of my current favés like Washed Out and the xx. It's still a little hazy and summery, mainly because it's still hot as shit here.

Also, I've come across some awesome mid-century advertisements. I want to plaster them all over my walls. Check em out. Sorry, not very clever today.

scotland calling

as I sit and watch this spectacular youtube video of Calvin Harris sonically molesting hot women it painfully reminds me of my days in ye olde Scotlandia. From the disgusting food to the school I taught at (lovingly nicknamed 'Little Bosnia'), I can't help but get a little teary-eyed. So, while you're spending your saturday dicking around youtube too, remember the simpler times...

cruel verano

I've decided that I'm over summer. Everyone I know is getting all color and bothered. Everything is better in the fall: weather, clothes, televison-- I can't think of anything else, but that's all that matters anyway.

Through my keen senses of observation I have also noticed that summer makes everyone bored and mean. So, this goes out to y'all

cover me bad

I love me a good cover, especially if it reworks the original. It's even better when they make you want to die, which I feel like these covers do. So tragic, so emotional, so good! Yeah, not much to say here, just listen...

people don't baile no more

as the hazy summer smoke clears a shining beacon of light is starting to shimmer through. That shining brilliance is over-produced dance music from europe... obviously. It's true what they say: people really don't dance no more, but I'm pretty sure these new jams from Calvin Harris and Simian Mobile Disco will make you want to move uncontrollably (or as non-whites call it: dancing). Try not to smile too much when you listen to The Rain. Oh, how I've missed fun.

barfasaurus wrecks

so, yesterday may have been the worst dia-of-mi-vida. I woke up dizzy and in a horrible mood: girls. Then I proceeded to puke all day, maybe due to an unknown pain killer I took. Then I watched the Degrassi movie, which was the most shiteous creation of all time. Further ruining my image of Degrassi (I'm lookin' at you Drake). Anywho, as I lay on my (death) bed, the only thing that helped me through was the xx. Awesome band; just what I needed. Watch them prove it with this video:

leave me alone

In case you didn't know, Michael Jackson is dead. His body couldn't handle all the hate and injustices in the world-- or drug intake, so he faded into large amounts of money and record sales. He'll also shoot off the screen into your eyes one last time in a partially 3D movie this fall. Luckily, I love 3D movies, or else I'd be appalled. Oh, and I also like MJ, so here are some dulce versions of his songs (even more here):

Toro y Moi - Human Nature (Personal favorito)

P.S. Why does George Lucas look so fucking smug? Doesn't he know he destroyed my childhood dreams the day he considered Hayden Christensen's resumé?
